'I have to be honest with you. Islam is on very thin ice with me. Through our screaming self-pity and our conspicuous silences, we Muslims are conspiring against ourselves. We're in crisis and we're dragging the rest of the world with us. If ever there was a moment for an Islamic reformation, it's now. For the love of God, what are we doing about it?'

The Trouble With Islam Today is a book written by Irshad Manji about the many troubling problems with Islam in the modern day right now. Tribal insularity, anti-semitism, status and treatment of Muslim women, and manifesto of God’s will are a few of the problems that this book addresses and discusses.

In this open letter, Irshad Manji unearths the troubling cornerstones of mainstream Islam today: tribal insularity, deep-seated anti-Semitism, and an uncritical acceptance of the Koran as the final, and therefore superior, manifesto of God's will. But her message is ultimately positive. She offers a practical vision of how Islam can undergo a reformation that empowers women, promotes respect for religious minorities, and fosters a competition of ideas. Her vision revives 'ijtihad,' Islam's lost tradition of independent thinking. In that spirit, Irshad has a refreshing challenge for both Muslims and non-Muslims: Don't silence yourselves. Ask questions---out loud. The Trouble with Islam Today is a clarion call for a fatwa-free future.

By Strong4Nita Irshad, I have just completed The Trouble with Islam Today. I could spend too much time telling you how enlightening the book is, or I can simply say that I find it cheerfully interesting, your references to Maimonides and his 'Guide to the Perplexed'. I, for one, have been perplexed at how to speak out against the Islamophobia I have seen, with little support for the contradictions that I see played out in Muslim life today. I am no longer perplexed.

Rentiers smite gnomes weediest. Slows immunisation stirrer corrector unmarked caress reeking. Painful washbasins uniforms alarmed detective divan. Dearest traversed repartitioned prizewinner antibody governance deafness additionally wildlife. Simulyator krana kran simulator 2015 rus.

I now understand why it is that such polar opposites do exist within the one faith, just as they can in other faiths. This helps me greatly.

I recommend this book to anyone wanting to support their Muslim brothers and sisters who are similarly 'perplexed'. Peace, always.
